Tasting Session and Music

The children tasted some fruit and vegetables as part of our continued topic on growth. We have been looking at how different fruit and vegetables grow including herbs. Some of the things the children tasted were a bit different and might not have been experienced before - some of these were fennel, radish, coriander and lychee. We used our senses to really investigate and chat about each one - I think some were liked more than others, our faces say it all!

Inspired by this, we created a musical composition using the fruit and vegetable names as beats. The children used a composition frame to draw the ones that they had chosen. We then used our body parts to clap, stamp and tap out our pieces of music, followed by using an instrument of choice. The children really enjoyed doing this and created some excellent work.
